CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for a Mapping & Charting Officer (E01 Grade) to join their team on a temporary contract, with possibility of extension.
Pay Rate - £17.43 per/hr
Location – DoF, OSNI – Business Development Branch
Benefits – 37 days holiday per annum
Hours – 37 hours per week
Responsibilities will include:
- Provide comprehensive secretarial support, including scheduling and coordinating meetings, managing room bookings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking action items.
- Act as a first point of contact for routine customer and internal team queries regarding data products and services.
- Monitor and manage shared mailboxes, responding to routine product queries or escalating as required.
- Conduct initial quality assurance checks on product datasets and report issues to Product Managers.
- Maintain up-to-date records of product specifications, metadata, and associated documents.
- Plan for future release of products and product updates.
- Coordinate with internal teams to plan and manage product releases, ensuring schedules align with customer needs.
- Oversee customer communications and support, including release notifications and feedback response, and assistance during product transitions.
- Ensure timely and accurate update processes are followed and supply folders are kept up-to-date and stored in correct formats.
- QA and review all new Product Proposals.
- Manage and maintain the back-end operations of the E-Commerce system, ensuring data integrity, system performance, and seamless integration with product and customer databases.
- Research into file formats required for different products and the potential for adding or moving to alternative formats.
Essential Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum qualification: A BTEC Higher National Certificate or equivalent Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject which includes Geography or GIS element.
- Must have completed studies and be available to work Full-Time.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise administrative and data-related tasks.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- An understanding of geospatial data and mapping concepts.
- Provision of customer support in a GIS environment, including a familiarity with GIS and CAD software and a willingness to learn technical systems and processes.
- Awareness of data privacy, quality assurance and data standards.
- Experience working in a customer-facing or data-driven environment.
- Need to develop and use their soft skills with regards to lead and communicating with a range of diverse stakeholders to progress good product management practices.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to produce clear and accurate documentation.
- Need to or gain a working knowledge coordinating meetings and taking minutes.
- Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues.
- Familiarity with government processes.
- Flexibility and team support.
- Problem-solving ability – to resolve customer issues and improve administrative processes.
