- Job Purpose
To source, negotiate and control the end-to-end process of the purchasing of Fragrance Ingredients for the CPL Group.
To support the global manufacturing divisions with purchasing related queries and problems to ensure we give outstanding customer service to our global customers
To develop new sources of supply for existing and new fragrance ingredients that will complement the CPL Aromas palette
- Tasks and Responsibilities
- To facilitate the purchasing of our fragrance ingredients. Both naturals and chemicals
- To source new suppliers of existing fragrance ingredients within CPL Global quality and regulatory guidelines
- To manage and develop our existing and potential fragrance ingredient suppliers
- To manage and control the process of sample approval for our fragrance ingredients following the CPL buying sample approval process
- To negotiate supply contracts for our fragrance ingredients adhering to the CPL Authorisation Matrix
- To assist the local purchasing teams with raw material queries and problems
- To assist colleagues in all departments with purchasing related issues.
- To assist the Global Purchasing Director as requested and to provide information for the Quarterly purchasing board reports
- Visiting key suppliers to understand their processes and observing facilities and developing relationships with suppliers in order to reduce costs
- To review and resolve problematic raw materials and supply chain issues with our suppliers
- To assist sales colleagues and account managers with pricing issues and margin concerns on fragrances
- To keep up to date with changes in raw material markets and regulatory changes.
- To cover a position where market changes are occurring to prevent raw material price increases to CPL.
- To attend perfumery raw material meetings, Global Stock meetings, Natural Assessment Team meetings, Perfumery and purchasing conferences.
- To assist Global Purchasing colleagues in their development and understanding of raw material markets, the suppliers and the threats and opportunities
- To keep up to date with global news and natural disasters that could affect the sourcing and purchasing of essential oils and aroma chemicals
- To develop our range of Sustainable and ethically sourced fragrance ingredients and to support the global sustainability team when required.
- To assist the global marketing team with requests for raw material marketing information
- To participate in global sales meetings and provide updates on raw material markets and supply chain challenges.
- To participate in weekly General Manager meetings and highlight raw material issues when required.
- To liaise with Formulation management and the Palette management team with significant short- or long-term raw material shortages and assist with finding a solution
Skills And Attributes Required
- Qualification
- 1-2 years buying experience would be preferred but full training will be provided
Experience working in a fast moving manufacturing industry would be an advantage.
