CPJ Field & Company Ltd, an independent and family owned funeral company, require a very special person to join our team dedicated to serving families at one of the most difficult times in their lives. We are currently seeking a Funeral Service Team Member (Chauffeur/Bearer) to join our team in Aylesbury. The role is full‑time, Monday to Friday, with additional on‑call responsibilities. The successful candidate will support families during one of the most difficult periods of their lives, working closely with Funeral Directors and the rest of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Attend funerals, drive vehicles, and bear coffins on the shoulder.
  • Remove the deceased from their place of death to our premises in a dignified manner.
  • Check and maintain the mortuary register.
  • Collect and prepare coffins prior to funerals, including fitting out and engraving nameplates.
  • Prepare the deceased for presentation in the Chapel of Rest.
  • Prepare graves and plots for ashes interments, including removal and replacement of memorial tablets.
  • Keep the premises of CPJ Field clean and tidy; attend to mortuary areas, preparation rooms, fridge areas, chapels, workshops, arranging offices, reception areas, and upstairs offices.

Qualifications

  • Previous relevant experience preferred but not essential.
  • Must hold a valid driving licence.
  • Happy to work flexibly in a small team.
  • Prepared to work with a smart appearance, with no visible tattoos or piercings.
  • Available on a 24‑hour call‑out system in accordance with local rota agreements, for which additional payment is provided.
