The Role
We are seeking a part-time Finance Assistant to join our team. Working 24 hours per week over 3 days, you will play a vital role in supporting our finance operations, working closely with the finance team to ensure the smooth running of our financial processes and provide essential support to our branches.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly payments, including cheques, BACS, and debit card refunds
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Administer company cards (top-ups, month-end journals, reconciliations)
- Assist in producing management accounts and regular journals (funeral numbers, coffins, bad debt provision)
- Reconcile receipts and update financial records daily and weekly
- Credit control: produce aged debtor reports and send final notices as needed
- Chase branches for funeral deposits and ensure timely invoicing
- Complete Valuation Office returns using lease details
- Update and reconcile rates schedules monthly
- Liaise with auditors on transactional queries
- Respond to queries from branches via email or phone
- Support with ad hoc finance tasks as required
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with finance software is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive, problem-solving attitude
