LOCATION: Northern Virginia
POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Switchgear Technician’s duties include start-up, commissioning, repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing mission-critical electrical equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pre-Sales Support: Review specifications, interface with sales, review submittals, support factory testing, and ensure proper equipment shipment and installation.
- Installation: Conduct scope discussions, hold regular meetings, coordinate staffing, and manage site testing and technical issues.
- Project Management: Develop schedules, monitor impacts, report margins, manage change orders, and ensure final customer acceptance.
- Other Functions: Coordinate commissioning, provide training, support regional personnel, respond to service calls, and perform preventive maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma preferred; Bachelor’s in electronics or related field highly desirable; military training acceptable.
- 7+ years field repair/customer service experience with UPS, electrical, or electro-mechanical equipment; 3-5 years mission-critical product experience.
- Knowledge of critical power systems, reading schematics, organizational skills, communication skills, and valid driver’s license required.
- Computer Skills: Word, Excel, MS Project, troubleshooting, testing per NETA/NICET.
- Certificates: NETA/NICET Level 2 or 3 preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise multiple employees, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Physical Demands: Ability to move objects, stand, walk, sit, and perform visual tasks as specified.
