Founded in 1992 as Crystal Palace Ladies F.C., the Eagles turned semi-professional in 2018 and joined the Women’s Championship, starting to play as ‘Crystal Palace F.C.’ the following summer. In 2023/24, the team ushered in a new era by welcoming new leadership, a new head coach, a new captain, and a new home ground in South London, Sutton United’s VBS Community Stadium. The following season, they won the Women’s Championship and, with it, the chance to play in the Women’s Super League for the very first time.

About this role:

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join the Girls Pathway to help develop our U12 to U14 players prior to their transition in the Professional Game Academy. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with all staff from the multidisciplinary team to provide an inclusive and supportive environment for all players.

Monday 6:00pm – 8:00pm | Wednesday 7:30pm – 9:30pm | Thursday 7:00pm – 9:00pm | Saturday 9:00am – 2:00pm

(hours may vary dependent on weeks)

11 hours per week over 44 weeks each season (July-May)

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and review football coaching sessions and matchdays in line with the clubs, coach competency framework, handbook, curriculum and philosophy
  • Commit to delivering robust technical and duels programme across all Girls Pathway age groups
  • Commit to personal Continual Professional Development programme provided internally and externally from the club alongside any current FA/NGB support
  • Input information into the PGA and Girls Pathway monitoring system to allow for analysis and benchmarking (Kitman Labs, Hudl and any other club platforms)
  • Provide input to the development and ongoing improvement / adaptation of the coaching curriculum
  • Input into selection decisions (e.g., attend trials and take part in selection decisions post-trial)
  • Prepare and support players in transition across age groups and different environments.
  • Work across age groups and / or senior environments (coach is likely to hold responsibility for one age group and work with different groups from time to time)
  • Work with individual players set appropriated development targets with a plan to work towards
  • Provide feedback to players (using technology where appropriate) that is recorded in the IDPs.
  • Monitor and evaluate player development and provide feedback to players and parents/carers on a regular basis over 8-week cycles
  • Liaise with and work closely with coaches, medics and performance staff regarding player development, and prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries
  • Ensure all games are well managed with a development philosophy clear to players and parents/carers
  • Be available to players to offer advice, guidance and support on football and personal matters and refer up through Payer Care Lead and Safeguarding Lead
  • Ensure player behaviour in the group reflects what is required in the PGA
  • Work with the PGA\’s Safeguarding Manager to ensure that the wellbeing and welfare of all players and staff is always an operational priority
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
  • Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Essential

  • FA Level 3/UEFA B Licence or working towards
  • FA DBS
  • FA Safeguarding Children
  • FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) or FA Emergency First Aid.

Desirable

  • FA Level 4/UEFA A Licence
  • FA Advanced Youth Award (AYA).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar roles
  • Extensive knowledge and experience around technical and duels development
