You’ll help solve key rail infrastructure challenges and support transportation projects that benefit communities across the UK and Ireland.

You’ll join our Young Professionals Program (YPP), an immersive learning experience managed by our Growth and Operations (GO) team. This program offers hands‑on exposure to different areas of our business, allowing you to contribute to local, national, and international projects while sharpening your consulting expertise.

Your responsibilities

As part of our dynamic team, you’ll contribute to key aspects of the project lifecycle under the leadership of GO’s Vice President. You’ll focus on our UK and Ireland markets. Upon completion of the Young Professional Program, you’ll continue your career at CPCS with our UK and Europe Team.

  • Contribute to economic and financial analyses (e.g., cost‑benefit, demand forecasting, market assessments) to inform project design and decision‑making.
  • Undertake sectoral analyses using quantitative data and qualitative research, drawing on UK and international best practices.
  • Support business development, including proposal preparation and market scanning.
  • Support project management, including coordination, tracking deliverables, and client engagement.
  • Synthesise quantitative findings and qualitative insights into well‑structured written deliverables (reports, briefings, presentations) that clients can act on.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, partner firms, and clients.

What you bring to the team

  • Master’s degree in transport planning, economics, engineering, finance.
  • 1‑3 years of experience in the UK rail sector, with a clear interest in continuing to build a career in this space.
  • Ability to engage in analytical and data‑driven work.
  • A genuine interest in UK rail and the ambition to build a long‑term career in transport consulting.
  • Understanding of advanced market challenges, trends, and stakeholders, particularly in the UK and Ireland.
  • A track record of taking initiative and delivering results, whether through work experience, professional development, or industry involvement.
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in English.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Active involvement in industry groups or professional associations (e.g., Young Rail Professionals, Institution of Civil Engineers, Transport Planning Society) is a strong asset.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
