Role: Associate Director / Director – Project Management

Team: Property & Construction North

Sectors: Health, Education, Science & Technology (but not limited to and including emerging sectors)

Location: North West (CPC offices in Liverpool, Manchester & Leeds)

What if your next move wasn’t just another role — but the opportunity to help shape something with real backing, genuine momentum, and clear influence? At CPC Project Services, we are expanding our North West presence within our Health, Education, Science and Technology team and are seeking a senior Project Management professional to work directly alongside our Regional Partner Chris Lavery.

About CPC: CPC is a highly successful, independent project management and cost consultancy with a strong reputation across the built environment. Over 36 years, we have been shaped through trusted relationships, repeat business, and a consistent track record of delivering complex, high-value programmes across public and private sectors. As we continue to scale, we offer something rare — agility, pace, and influence alongside the capability to operate at the highest level. With a clear ambition to reach £100m turnover by 2033, we are on a focused, ambitious but realistic growth journey.

About the role: This is a genuine number two position — not simply supporting expansion but actively shaping and accelerating it. You’ll already be operating at Associate Director or Director level, with a proven track record in business development and a strong network you can leverage. This isn’t a role where you wait for opportunities — it’s about knowing where they are, how to unlock them, and having the credibility to win them.

Working closely with Chris, you will play a central role in strengthening CPC’s regional footprint, leading both the acquisition and delivery of work. While current activity spans healthcare, education, life sciences and technology, the scope is wider — we welcome the experience, relationships, and sectors you bring.

Chris is a highly respected industry figure, with a background in delivering complex programmes, operating at board level, and building regional teams from the ground up. His network spans senior stakeholders across public sector bodies, major clients, and strategic organisations, with a strong pipeline already secured across the North West — including infrastructure, utilities, and major development schemes.

Momentum is strong, but capacity is the constraint. With live opportunities, established relationships, and ongoing market engagement, this role requires someone who can match pace, convert pipeline, and expand what is already underway — while also introducing new work streams.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading business development activity, using your network to identify and secure opportunities
  • Delivering project management commissions from early engagement through to completion
  • Acting as a trusted advisor across multiple sectors and project stages
  • Working closely with Chris to convert pipeline into secured work
  • Supporting the development of a high-performing regional team, including future hires
  • Helping shape CPC’s North West growth strategy and identifying new markets

You will be confident operating in complex environments and comfortable with NEC and JCT contracts (desirable, not essential), acting as a trusted client advisor while leading delivery from the front. You will also influence early-stage discussions, helping define scope, strategy, and programme setup from the outset.

What sets this apart is the balance. You will have autonomy to build something meaningful, backed by the strength, reputation, and stability of a successful independent SME. There is no heavy hierarchy or unnecessary process — just direct access, visibility, and impact.

This role suits someone who thrives on relationships, influence, and drive — someone who enjoys being in conversations early, building trust, identifying opportunity, and converting it into secured work, while also leading delivery and developing teams. There is also real scope to shape the wider function — influencing recruitment, identifying new sectors, and helping define how CPC evolves across the North West.

What’s in it for you: You will benefit from genuine autonomy, direct access to senior leadership, and the ability to influence both commercial direction and delivery. As the North West team expands, your role will evolve — bringing clear progression, increased responsibility, and real ownership of a growing business unit. We also have a great benefits package!

  • Competitive salary plus performance-related bonus
  • Private healthcare (including dental and optical cover) for you and your family
  • Travel insurance (including winter sports) for you and your family
  • Private pension scheme
  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • Full support with professional memberships and ongoing development
  • Retail discounts

If you are ready to leverage your network, build on strong foundations, and play a defining role in a growing regional business — we want to hear from you!
