Working within the Project Commercial Team, the Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) will provide full commercial support across projects from pre-construction through to final account and handover. The role is responsible for identifying and mitigating commercial risks, while also maximising opportunities to ensure optimal project margins. The SQS will ensure full commercial compliance and governance across all projects, delivering accurate reporting to both internal stakeholders and clients. You will play a key role in budget development, client proposals, and maintaining strong financial performance throughout the lifecycle of each project. This includes protecting and enhancing contractual margins, managing subcontractor accounts, and leading the commercial aspects of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end commercial management from project inception to final account
- Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks across projects
- Identify and maximise commercial opportunities to improve project margins
- Ensure full compliance with commercial governance and approval processes
- Prepare and present commercial reports to internal stakeholders and clients
- Develop project budgets and client proposals, ensuring value for money while achieving margin targets
- Protect and enhance contractual margin expectations throughout project delivery
- Lead the final account process to successful conclusion
- Complete monthly CVRs and review inputs from junior team members to ensure accuracy and performance
- Manage subcontractor accounts, including procurement, valuation, and final accounts
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar
- Strong NEC contract experience within civil engineering
- Proven track record in managing project finances and margins
- Good IT and reporting skills
