Our client is a manufacturing business, based in Glasgow who supply the UK construction sector. They are a key division of a wider international group, and are seeking a Commercial Manager to lead a strategic overhaul of their commercial operations. They are a business with a massive footprint and a strong pipeline for the 2026 financial year.

Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial, this is a newly created role designed for a "bonnet-lifter" - someone who can dissect our processes, identify where we are leaking value, and implement a more commercially astute framework for the future.

The Mission

  • Post-Project Analysis: Transitioning the business from "quote and carry out" to a model of rigorous commercial review and value engineering.
  • Strategic Resource Management: Identifying and solving bottlenecks.
  • System Innovation: Working with our dedicated AI division to develop and coordinate bespoke programs that analyse existing productivity and project profitability.
  • Future Team Building: Once established, you will play a lead role in hiring your support team, likely a Commercial Administrator or Trainee QS.

Who You Are

This is not a traditional "run of the mill" QS role. We are looking for a commercial heavyweight who enjoys the "detective work" of construction manufacturing.

  • Commercial Astuteness: You can spot a dilapidation claim or a value engineering opportunity from a mile away.
  • Process-Driven: You have a track record of tightening up commercial processes in a high-volume install or service environment.
  • Data-Led: You are comfortable using technology (including AI tools) to drive decision-making.
  • Local Knowledge: Based in or near Glasgow, you are ready to join a business led by an MD who transitioned from this very career path.

To Apply

Please submit your CV using the link and Nicola Monro will contact you directly to discuss the role in more detail. As this is an exclusive assignment, all initial enquiries will be handled with strict confidentiality.
