Job Description: Quality Assurance Engineer

Reports to: Director of Engineering and Projects
Location: Isleworth, London
Purpose of the Role:
The QA Engineer will drive manufacturing quality at CP Cases Ltd by reducing process variation, standardizing production methods, and ensuring consistent compliance with customer and industry requirements. This role is central to building a culture of quality across the business, supporting high-profile customers, and positioning CP Cases for growth in demanding sectors such as defence, aerospace, broadcast and medical.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Quality Management & Continuous Improvement:
* Maintain the company’s QMS in line with ISO 9001 and customer expectations.
* Lead internal process audits across production and support functions.
* Manage and refine the non-conformance management system and corrective/ preventive actions.
* Collect and analyse defect/ rework data, produce regular quality reports and dashboards for management review.
* Manufacturing Process Control:
* Develop and Implement manufacturing SOPs and process guides across all production areas.
* Define and action process control measures (Parameters, tolerances, acceptance criteria)
* Work with Engineering and Production to design and introduce jigs, fixtures and tooling that improve repeatability and reduce operator dependence.
* Enhance and manage the calibration system for all measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
* Lead deployment of First Article Inspection (FAI) procedures for new and repeat products.
* Inspection and Quality Control:
* Liaise with production engineer to develop route cards and checklists for each department.
* Train and support production team leaders to carry out QC responsibilities in their areas.
* Oversee goods-in inspection with Stores, including criteria and sampling methods.
* Conduct spot checks and audits to ensure compliance with SOPs and inspection processes.
* Supplier Quality:
* Establish supplier quality requirements and inspection criteria for incoming materials.
* Liaise with Supply chain manager on supplier evaluation and performance monitoring systems.
* Conduct supplier audits for critical vendors, driving corrective actions as required.
* Customer Quality Interface:
* Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality issues, complaints and audits.
* Provide customers with inspection records, FAIs, CoCs and quality reports as required.
* Support business development by demonstrating CP Cases’s quality to customers and prospects.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing or related discipline.
* At least 3 years of experience in QA Engineering / Quality Management in a manufacturing environment.
* Internal auditor certification (ISO 9001) is desirable.
* Green Belt Lean Six Sigma is desirable.
* Familiarity with customer and supplier audits is essential.
* Competency in MS suite and ERP systems is essential.
Key Attributes:
Strong understanding of manufacturing quality principles (process control, inspection systems, variation reduction).
Experience writing and implementing SOPs, control plans, and FAIs.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 (AS9100 / ISO 13485 experience a plus).
Skilled in root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA) and improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma preferred).
Practical knowledge of inspection methods, metrology, and calibration systems.
Excellent communication and training skills, able to influence production teams.
Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate quality data into improvement actions.
Hands-on, pragmatic, and comfortable working in a growing SME environment.
