As a Microbiologist, you’ll play a central role in developing, scaling, and optimising microbial workflows that bridge biology, automation, and data science. Working closely with interdisciplinary teams, you’ll design and execute experiments that advance microbial strain development, improve fermentation performance, and generate insights that fuel product innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead microbial cultivation, fermentation, and optimisation across a range of species (e.g., E. coli, B. subtilis, yeasts, lactic acid bacteria).
  • Develop and validate assays, workflows, and media formulations to support strain and process improvement.
  • Partner with automation and computational biology teams to ensure data quality, traceability, and integration.
  • Drive milestone-based R&D projects from design to delivery, balancing creativity with rigour.
  • Mentor junior scientists and contribute to lab scale-up, infrastructure, and documentation best practices.
About You
  • MSc or PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of industry or translational research experience in microbial R&D, bioprocess, or metabolic engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with microbial cultivation, media optimisation, and strain improvement.
  • Familiarity with automation platforms, bioreactor systems, or data-driven experimentation.
  • Bonus: exposure to anaerobic strains, high-throughput workflows, or Python/R scripting.
