About the Job
We are partnered with a pioneering BioTech, their mission is to discover and develop novel classes of therapeutics using the latest in artificial intelligence, deep learning, and multiomics technologies. They follow a unique strategy, based on the concept that transcription factors, the master controllers of gene expression, act as detailed and dynamic maps of disease and novel opportunities to treat it.
Job summary
This individual will be core contributor to the continued development and implementation of our BioTech platform, working alongside leading experimentalists, AI experts, and industry leaders to drive forward our compelling mission.
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in discovering new therapeutics for neurodegeneration and diseases of ageing. You will have excellent practical and organisational skills and be able to thrive in an innovative environment. We are a highly multi-disciplinary team: it is critical that you can communicate complex science and technical ideas to the whole team, as well as external stakeholders.
As a Bioinformatician you will develop novel tools for drug discovery across the companies entire pipeline, from target to patient. You will be responsible for sourcing, curating, and analysing large-scale ‘omics and multiomics data sets, including at single-cell resolution and under genetic/chemical perturbation. You will build computational pipelines to integrate such data into our foundational infrastructure and then use the data to identify new drivers of diseases and opportunities to turn them into new therapies for patients.
You will also contribute to development and implementation of novel AI to decode biology, working closely with our lab scientists and disease experts to generate novel biological hypotheses that will be validated in our lab, with the data and learnings fed back into our tech in a rapid learning loop.

Core
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience actively contributing to a research-centric organisation
- Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to explain (verbally, through graphics, and in writing) complex concepts to non-specialists, build relationships, and influence decision making
- Proven experience in building computational tools and performing analysis in R and/or Python, including bioinformatics pipelining with tools like Nextflow or Snakemake
- Experience working with key bioinformatics data modalities, databases, and analysis tools, including for transcriptomics, multi-omics, and/or single cell
- Experience in owning informatics-driven biological research projects, including setting and evaluating research questions through good scientific method
- Passion for applying technical skills in a dynamic startup environment, including the flexibility and willingness to adapt quickly and take on new tasks outside of your immediate remit
Additional
- Analysis of data relevant to neurodegeneration, and a working knowledge of neuroscience biology, including in the context of disease
- Experience in analysis of large-scale genetic or chemical perturbation datasets
- Knowledge of techniques for network biology modelling and broad understanding of core concepts of systems biology
- Experience in analysis using machine learning, including an understanding of fundamental concepts (regression, classification, clustering) and tools, including applied to biological data or to Computer Vision on cells
- Knowledge and experience of good software development practises (e.g., version control)
- Experience working in a Linux-based cloud computing environment (e.g., AWS)
- Experience of working with lab-based teams
