One of my local government clients are currently recruiting an experienced Procurement Manager on a temporary basis. This is a 3-month minimum contract with the possibility of the role being extended further to work Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Hybrid working role where, however, you will be required to attend the office 2/3 times a week.
Overview:
- Forming part of the Corporate Services Department, the Commercial Services Team is a dynamic, multi-skilled team which provides council directorates with procurement and contract management support.
- You will be responsible for managing a small team and will support the Commercial Services Manager in the planning, organisation, management and delivery of the procurement service to drive and deliver an efficient, effective and responsive service for the organisation, whilst maximising value for money and ensuring compliance.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, management and coaching styles to drive the development of the team and advocate and support development of good public sector procurement practice within the organisation.
- You will evidence a strong background in leading on procurement projects that are complex both in terms of the services being procured and the stakeholder dynamics across a range of subject areas including construction and social care.
- The successful applicant will have a minimum of 3 years experience working at a senior procurement level and must have demonstrable achievements in a public sector procurement and supply environment. You will be suitably qualified by having CIPS level 6 (or actively working towards this), or educated to degree level or equivalent and demonstrable experience for both.
