A local authority is currently recruiting for a dedicated and organised Housing Assistant to support their busy Area Housing Team. This is a full-time, on-site role offering the opportunity to make a real impact within a fast-paced and resident-focused housing environment. This post is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills and a genuine interest in housing services who is looking to gain hands-on experience in the public sector. Key Responsibilities: * Provide frontline support to residents on a wide range of housing matters including rent enquiries, tenancy issues, transfers, empty homes, and more. * Offer accurate and timely advice, signposting, and making referrals where necessary. * Assist with administrative tasks, routine correspondence, and case preparation in support of the Housing Officers and Team Leader. * Manage internal diaries, arrange meetings and room bookings, and support senior staff with their scheduling needs. * Monitor shared inboxes and ensure incoming queries are handled efficiently and appropriately. * Support the processing of Right to Buy, housing references, transfer requests, and building society enquiries. * Coordinate temporary accommodation placements as required. * Process invoices and support the team with general finance administration tasks. * Take minutes at meetings and distribute them in a timely and accurate manner. What We\βre Looking For: * Previous experience in an administrative or housing-related role, preferably within a local authority setting. * Confident communication and interpersonal skills β both written and verbal. * Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. * Strong IT skills including use of MS Office and internal systems. * A customer-focused approach with the ability to respond professionally to queries and concerns. * Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment. * A flexible, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset.
