We are seeking experienced and compassionate Paediatric Complex Care Assistants to join a supportive and dedicated care team providing 1:1 specialised support for a child with complex health needs in Norfolk. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference in a young person’s life, supporting them both at home and within a mainstream school environment. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality care, promoting independence and well-being, and supporting the child to engage fully in education and daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist clinical care including tracheostomy care and management, suctioning, and airway support
- Support respiratory needs including oxygen therapy, nebulisers, inhalers, and monitoring saturations
- Deliver gastrostomy care, including feeding and hydration (nil by mouth)
- Administer medications via gastrostomy, inhaled, and topical routes in line with care plans
- Monitor for changes in condition, recognising early warning signs and escalating concerns appropriately
- Support personal care needs, including continence and maintaining skin integrity
- Assist with communication using sign-supported methods and assistive technology (training provided)
- Provide emotional and behavioural support using a calm, trauma-informed approach
- Work collaboratively with family, school staff, and healthcare professionals
- Promote independence, wellbeing, and participation in education and daily activities
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 6 months UK paediatric or complex care experience
- Competency or training in tracheostomy, gastrostomy, suctioning, and oxygen therapy
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and child-centred care
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred)
