We are seeking compassionate, experienced, and reliable Complex Carers to support a 48-year-old gentleman living in Devizes with complex medical, neurological, and mental health needs. This is a 24-hour, 1:1 support package requiring dedicated carers who can provide high-quality person-centred care while promoting safety, dignity, and independence.
The client has a history of malignant brain tumours, stroke, diabetes, seizures, cognitive impairment, mobility difficulties, visual impairment, hearing loss, and adrenal insufficiency. Due to the complexity of his conditions, carers must remain vigilant to changes in presentation and respond appropriately to signs of deterioration or medical emergencies. This role requires carers who are calm under pressure, observant, emotionally supportive, and confident managing complex health conditions within a home environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 support within the client’s home and community
- Support with all aspects of personal care and daily living
- Assist with mobility and transfers while promoting safety and independence
- Support with meal preparation, hydration, and nutrition
- Administer and manage medication in line with care plans and MAR charts
- Monitor blood glucose levels using a Libre sensor
- Observe and report signs of illness, infection, adrenal crisis, seizures, or deterioration
- Provide emotional reassurance and mental health support
- Assist with appointments and community access where required
- Maintain accurate documentation and daily care records
- Follow risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, and clinical protocols
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations, including escalation to healthcare professionals when required
- Work collaboratively with family members and multidisciplinary teams
- Minimum 6 months’ experience in complex care or healthcare settings
- Experience supporting clients with neurological conditions, diabetes, seizures, or cognitive impairment
- Medication administration training
- Moving and handling experience
- Good communication and observation skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
- Flexible and reliable approach to shifts
- Experience supporting clients with adrenal insufficiency
- Knowledge of seizure management
- Mental health support experience
- Experience using glucose monitoring systems such as Libre sensors
