Role Purpose: To deliver high-quality, safe, and compassionate overnight care to a child with complex medical and learning needs within the family home. The Paediatric Complex Carer will work in accordance with individualised care plans, clinical guidance, and Coyle Homecare policies to ensure the service user’s wellbeing, dignity, and safety at all times.
Location: Farnham
Hours of Work: 10:00pm – 6:00am, Monday to Sunday (waking night shifts, rota-based)
Service User Profile: The service user is a young boy with the following support needs:
- Use of BiPAP overnight
- Dysphagia, requiring careful airway management and positioning
- Enteral nutrition via gastrostomy (PEG) tube
- Learning disabilities
- Requires continuous overnight monitoring and responsive care
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide person-centred, one-to-one overnight care in line with agreed care plans
- Monitor respiratory status and safely support BiPAP use throughout the night
- Prepare, administer, and monitor gastrostomy feeds using enteral feeding equipment
- Maintain airway safety, correct positioning, and comfort at all times
- Recognise, respond to, and escalate any changes in the child’s condition appropriately
- Respond promptly to alarms, equipment issues, and clinical concerns
- Complete clear, accurate, and timely care documentation
- Maintain a calm, reassuring, and safe environment for the service user and family
- Comply with safeguarding, infection prevention, lone working, and confidentiality policies
- Work professionally with family members and the wider care team
