To assist and advise on the Management of Health, Safety, Training and Wellbeing of all Company employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be present and visible to all employees and SLT in the role.
  • Manage Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental management systems and processes and ensure that they are accessible and implemented consistently across the organisation.
  • Promote a culture of Health, Safety and Wellbeing across all our projects and work with our client to align values and deliver this message as one unified team.
  • Act as a focal point to employees on matters of Health Safety, Wellbeing and Sustainability.
  • Meet with Operations Managers and go over all things HSWS with them when on site, encouraging them to continue with that learning.
  • Ensure that all accidents, incidents, near misses/close calls and cases of work-related ill health are reported (including reporting under RIDDOR), investigated and appropriate corrective action taken to prevent recurrence; and identification of compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation.
  • Attend and present at client sites and ensure feedback is given to relevant stakeholders.
  • Working with a range of clients, accurately assessing health and safety risks and strategy, and working with clients to create and deliver solutions.
  • Responsibility of creating and developing risk management strategies.
  • Creating a collaborative culture internally, sharing best practice and ideas, constantly assessing opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Leading, managing, and motivating HSWS team members and operational teams, always seeking ways to train, develop and improve performance.
  • Act as the organisation's subject matter expert (for Rail & Civils) within the field of HSWS to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and client requirements.
  • Monitor performance and report against key KPIs to the senior management team.
  • Ensure a robust Occupational Health Programme is implemented, recorded, and maintained by the organisation.
  • Develop and manage effective internal auditing process across the organisation.
  • Drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance to ensure the organisation remains a leader in the field.
  • Contribute and provide HSEQ support to the bid process and provide support and initiatives to the groups corporate and social responsibilities.
  • Lead on delivery of any HSWS initiatives across our projects nationally.

Output / Reporting Required

  • Compile and Submit KPI reports to client as dictated by contractual requirements.
  • Provide internal dashboard KPI and review data including H&S, Wellbeing and Sustainability monitoring Reports.
  • Ensure attendance across all client projects to meet the requirements and scored monitoring of attendance at site meetings, safety engagement tours, site inspections and briefings.
  • Ensure all Fatigue Reporting is complete and documented, with appropriate action taken where required.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, supply chain partners and key stakeholders, meeting needs and collaborating on performance and initiatives across contracts.
  • Ensure all Operations Teams are supported to meet client requirements within our remit.
  • Identify and communicate changes in legislation, regulation, and industry standards by obtaining and regularly reviewing updates and taking appropriate action.
