A profitable, lean fintech is hiring its first UK Support Engineer. The business is well established in Australia, has a loyal customer base, and is now building out its UK and EU operations. You'd be one of a small handful of UK team members, setting the tone for application support across the region.
The gig: You'll be the first line of defence when things wobble. AWS infrastructure, payments providers, open banking, debit card integrations. Triage, debug, fix, document, and feed learnings back into observability so the same fire doesn't start twice. This is a solo seat during UK hours, so you'll need to make calls without a safety net. Expect occasional out of hours work when something serious breaks.
Tech you'll touch: AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, API Gateway), TypeScript, Python, Bash. Some patching, some scripting, the odd SRE task. AWS CDK or CloudFormation a bonus.
You’ll be a fit if you have around 5 years in support engineering, technical operations, or infrastructure, ideally inside fintech, payments, or another high trust data environment. Customer facing applications under heavy load is the sweet spot. You can read code, not just logs. You find signal in noise. You communicate clearly with engineers and business stakeholders. You don’t need hand holding, because there won’t be much on offer.
The offer: £60k–£75k (outside London), founding UK team member status, real ownership over a critical function, and a profitable business that isn’t burning runway. Decisions get made by the people doing the work.
