About The Role
Reporting to the Logistics Director, the UK Fleet & Compliance Manager acts as the primary liaison between the Manheim Logistics function and key transport industry bodies, including the DVSA, DfT, RHA and other relevant organisations. The role provides expert technical and regulatory knowledge to the Logistics function, supporting the implementation, governance, and ongoing adherence to industry legislation to ensure full compliance across the fleet.
Through the establishment and oversight of robust processes, the UK Fleet & Compliance Manager takes ownership of health & safety, fleet compliance, and regulatory standards, ensuring that all logistics operations and team members consistently meet or exceed statutory and organisational requirements. A key focus of the role is to champion and embed a strong safety-first culture across all Manheim Logistics functions, promoting best practice, accountability, and continuous improvement in compliance and operational safety.
What You’ll Be Doing
Health, Safety & Compliance- Lead fleet and driver compliance across the Logistics function, ensuring full adherence to all health & safety legislation and compliance standards.
- Manage accident investigations, SSOW (Safe Systems of Work) development and ongoing governance.
- Promote and embed a strong safety-first culture across all logistics operations.
- Ensure all fleet servicing, MOTs, inspections, and repairs are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Maintain robust engineering, R&M, and compliance records in line with Operator Licence requirements.
- Monitor costs and performance to ensure value for money across all fleet maintenance activity.
- Manage relationships with all fleet service providers, repairers, and compliance partners.
- Ensure strong service level agreements (SLAs) are in place and consistently met.
- Drive maximum value from suppliers while maintaining compliance and operational reliability.
- Take ownership of all aspects of the company’s Operator Licences.
- Act as the primary representative for the business with regulatory bodies and authorities.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with licence conditions and transport legislation.
- Oversee driver assessments, licence upskilling, and Operator Licence-related training.
- Ensure compliance with Driver CPC requirements, including annual training programmes.
- Contribute to annual training plans and budgets in line with business requirements.
- Support long-term vehicle procurement planning in partnership with the Logistics Director.
- Lead the end-to-end introduction of new vehicles into operational sites following specification approval.
- Provide technical input into vehicle specifications to meet specific operational needs.
- Maintain close relationships with vehicle manufacturers and specialist equipment suppliers.
- Monitor industry trends, innovations, and regulatory developments within automotive logistics.
- Apply relevant insights to improve fleet performance, safety, and compliance.
What We’re Looking For
This is a field-based role, with the flexibility and willingness to attend Head Office in the Central Midlands as required by the Logistics Director. Comfortable challenging the status quo and able to influence behaviours and ways of working to drive consistency and standardisation across the business. Exposure to, or experience with, continuous improvement methodologies and operational excellence initiatives.
Experience & Knowledge- Strong knowledge of the automotive sector, specifically finished vehicle logistics.
- Sound understanding of drivers’ hours regulations, Working Time Directive (WTD), and the use of digital tachographs.
- Experience operating within a regulated transport or logistics environment.
- CPC qualified, with the ability to act as the named Transport Manager on each Operator Licence.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) or equivalent professional body.
- IOSH and/or NEBOSH certification (desirable).
- Category C+E driving licence and valid digital tachograph card (desirable).
