We are looking for a Civil Design Engineer with an interest in water utilities to support engineering work related to the design of water supply and wastewater infrastructure and associated non‑infrastructure equipment. Your role will focus on design and will involve interacting with colleagues across our global hubs. You will work closely with experienced engineers and gain exposure to a variety of projects, building opportunities for growth within the Civils discipline and exploring client‑side or site‑based roles in major infrastructure settings.
- Support the design of projects for a wide range of clients in the UK water sector
- Apply your skills in other sectors such as utilities, transmission and district heating
- Assist in planning design work and deliverables with wider civils teams
- Contribute to the preparation of engineering calculations, drawings and technical documentation
- Learn and apply relevant local and international standards
- Support coordination of multi‑disciplinary project aspects including civil, mechanical, electrical and process interfaces
- Assist senior engineers in technical reviews and design assurance activities
- Collaborate with team members across global delivery hubs
- Support documentation, quality checks and project deliverables
- Contribute to building relationships with clients and other stakeholders
Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future. On top of that, you should have:
- A degree in civil or mechanical engineering
- Be actively working towards Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with a recognised professional institution
- Project experience related to water or infrastructure projects
- Basic understanding of water‑based systems such as water supply, pipelines, pumping stations or treatment processes
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals including hydraulics and fluid mechanics
- Exposure to design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar software
- Awareness of hazardous area classification and relevant regulations such as DSEAR would be advantageous
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A willing and cooperative attitude and willingness to learn in a collaborative environment
