Create solutions that will enable a better tomorrow. To further expand our presence in the UK and Ireland infrastructure and transportation markets, we are looking for a Market Director to join us. Working with our Senior Market Director, you will oversee the expansion of our client and contractor portfolio across sectors including bridges and structures, ground engineering, civil/underground engineering, highways, marine, and rail.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Growing business development activities in our operational sectors across the UK and Ireland to meet growth targets.
- Building and maintaining an effective network with clients and partners in the UK and Ireland, working closely with contractor partners to develop design and build opportunities.
- Establishing early opportunities to increase our pipeline and success rate.
- Updating the UK Pipeline regularly for specific focus areas and implementing the Go / No Go process.
- Delivering capture and bid processes for major and regional projects, collaborating with technical staff and the Bid Support Team.
- Developing and executing bid-winning strategies, including commercial offerings, in conjunction with the executing unit leads.
- Delivering high-quality proposals.
- Maintaining customer focus and continuity through project delivery, managing key accounts and frameworks.
- Participating as part of COWI UK's market leadership team.
- Contributing to strategy development and action plans to support business growth.
- Identifying technical development areas and communicating these to management.
- Maintaining close liaison with UK business and COWI Group leads, sharing market and customer insights.

- Experience as an engineer or chartered engineer within an engineering consultancy, contractor, or client organization.
- Experience in business development within the engineering sector.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategies that ensure revenue growth.
- A strong technical background in one of our sectors, with effective work-winning leadership.
- An established network of relevant contacts in the UK and Ireland, including clients, contractors, and partners.
- Knowledge of legal, contractual, and financial issues in the sector.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with clients and partners.
- Experience in developing major proposals and market initiatives within consulting or engineering industries.
