Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Tunnel & Approaches Senior Project Engineers to achieve the project scope delivery, detailed design assurance and preparation of early works activities.
- Working collaboratively with the Tunnel and Approaches Delivery Partner, participating in integrated design workshops and providing advice, review and acceptance of submitted deliverables.
- NEC Project Management and Supervisor duties – monitoring quality and delivery of the delivery partner’s main works and early works.
- Collaborating with third‑party stakeholders and commercial interfaces.
- Working with Roads Projects, internal programme teams and subject matter experts across the Programme.
- Addressing and escalating delivery issues for timely resolution through governance channels.
- Ensuring that all activities are planned and progress is monitored and reported upon.
- Mentoring early career staff, apprentices, graduates and support staff.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in major tunnelling and associated tunnel infrastructure construction delivery, including operations and maintenance.
- Experience in tunnel asset work such as tunnel service building structures, road deck assurance, diaphragm walls, segmental linings, tunnel openings, in‑situ linings and portal structures.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the construction delivery of major infrastructure programmes, projects and works.
- Capability in detailed design and/or assurance for major tunnelling projects/programmes.
- Knowledge of common contract forms such as NEC4, Joint Code of Practice (JCOP), BTS Specification 3rd Edition, PRAMS, DMRB.
- Interpersonal and communication skills – able to motivate and liaise with team members and discipline leads to ensure information is as agreed with client and other stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain high performance in challenging environments and work with diverse management styles.
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills using advanced tools and techniques.
- Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Power BI.
- Health, safety and welfare (HSW) awareness – to ensure H&S in own area of work and for the team.
