Cowbridge & Vale Medical Practice are looking to appoint a 12-month fixed term salaried GP for 4-5 sessions per week. The post could lead to a permanent position following the 12 months. The sessions will include one duty doctor day (fixed day) which is paid at a higher sessional rate. We are an Emis practice, based in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, working out of a purpose-built single site with ample parking.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake routine and urgent consultations through a variety of communication methods.
- Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in line with NICE guidance, best practice and practice policies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of consultations within a patients clinical records (Emis).
- Prescribe safely and appropriately.
- Participate in clinical governance activities including audits, quality improvement and significant event analysis.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with the whole practice team and wider MDT.
- Comply with NHS Wales policies, safeguarding responsibilities and information governance requirements.
About us
Cowbridge & Vale Medical Practice is located within a purpose-built site in Cowbridge, the heart of The Vale of Glamorgan and has plenty of allocated parking. The practice consists of over 8,500 patients with a supportive clinical team of 3 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 1 GPN, 1 trainee GPN, a Nursing Assistant, a Post Graduate Trainee Pharmacist and a Practice Pharmacist. We also have a dynamic administration team. The practice is an active participant in training programmes for a wide range of clinical staff, we have GP registrars, medical students, trainee clinical pharmacists and pharmacy trainees.
Job responsibilities
To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the team.
