The primary role is to provide a high quality and effective general administrative support to the underwriting team. Assisting with recording of risk information, its entry into the underwriting systems in an accurate and timely manner, and any ad-hoc work that may be required. All associated administration and housekeeping duties in relation to the timely and accurate processing and recording of all business written in the Underwriting area, to include structure of files, quote logging etc. which must be both timely and accurate to ensure the meeting of business plan objectives, underwriting service standards and in compliance with the company’s compliance policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To assist the team in administration and processing of business: Data Entry, File Management & Administrative Support
  • Providing general administrative support in all areas of underwriting, claims and operations as well as day to day activities.
  • Adhering to the Underwriting (Ops) Process Crib sheet at all times (attached to this description)
  • Keeping the underwriting system up to date for all submissions, quotes and bound business
  • Processing endorsements.
  • Monitoring the submission flow and working with the underwriting team to ensure workflow management remains effective.
  • Enter submissions into Xuber / ensure clearance with US platform
  • Create and populate new risk folders
  • Sanction check all submissions
  • Monitoring PPL and other electronic placement platforms as appropriate.
  • Undertaking pre-bind checks, involving liaising with the Underwriting Management and Compliance team as appropriate.
  • Take care of DQ rules (populate UI etc.)
  • Preparing and review key performance date (KPI’s) and key risk indicators (KRI) reports and risk reports as required.
  • Document Review
  • Assisting with the preparation of policy wordings and scheme documentation for approval in line with company procedures.
  • PBQA and PDFVA for all quote slips
  • Renewal preparation - prepare policy and claims data for Underwriters
  • Preparing quotations / populating rating models
  • Handling endorsements / slips on placing platforms
  • Underwriting Assistance
  • Assisting with the preparation and updating of underwriting manuals.
  • Undertaking market research on business within the scope of activity.
  • As required, assisting in the analysis of individual account performance.
  • Working with the claims team / resource on the management of account or specific claim queries.
  • Managing meetings/diaries including scheduling, minute taking, invitations and room allocations
  • Assist in the general organisation of broker events when required.
  • Any other ad hoc duties.

  • To maintain compliance with any applicable UK or International statutory or regulatory obligation as required by the role.
  • This includes but not limited to obligations arising from:
  • The prudent management of the business.
  • Placing due regard on the interests of customers.
  • Observing rules on sanctions and financial crime.
  • Regulatory requirements and local licensing restrictions.
  • To ensure risk management and maintaining a robust control environment is incorporated into the day-to-day responsibilities of the role.
  • This includes but is not limited to:
  • Awareness and understanding of the CL Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework.
  • Ensuring the effective design and operation of controls within their function.
  • Identifying risks, risk events and issues arising in their business area and reporting these as per CL ERM Framework.
  • Participate in risk management activities/processes as required of the role.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITY

  • Qualified to A level standard, Graduate standard preferable or equivalent experience Interest in Insurance / Underwriting Planning and organisation skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Maintain professionalism and adhere to company communication guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present and communicate with a variety of external partners
  • Working knowledge of software applications with very good capability in Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • In addition, the candidate will be expected and supported to work towards the completion of the CII Certificate or equivalent
