We are recruiting an experienced Workshop Manager/Technician to join our in-house workshop maintaining our own fleet of commercial vehicles. This is a Monday-Friday, days-only role with no night shifts or weekend work, offering a stable and predictable working environment. Unlike many HGV roles, you will be working on a local, well-maintained fleet within our own workshop - no long-distance travel or constant roadside pressure.
What You'll Be Doing
- To assist the Group Transport Manager in maintaining the group vehicle fleet
- To manage workshop staff and facility to deliver high levels of service and productivity as required.
- Working with external contractors as required
- Planning/managing work for a team of up to 4 technicians at our Chichester workshop
- Overseeing the servicing, inspections/routine maintenance including repairs of HGV vehicles
- MOT preparation and presentation
- Fault finding (mechanical and basic electrical)
- Parts ordering/maintaining stock as required
- Maintaining accurate service and compliance records to required standards
- Supporting the upkeep of a clean and safe workshop environment
- Attending breakdowns as required from time to time and helping with vehicle movements
About You
- Experience working on HGVs or commercial fleet essential
- In-depth knowledge of inspections, servicing and MOT prep to DVSA standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- HGV licence (desirable but not essential)
Hours
Monday to Friday 07:00 - 17:00, 47.5 hours per week, no night shifts
