  • Supporting pupils with autism, learning difficulties and communication needs.

  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interaction.

  • Promoting appropriate behaviour and helping pupils manage transitions throughout the school day.

  • Reinforcing classroom routines and supporting emotional regulation.

  • Delivering targeted learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff.

  • Following individual support plans and agreed strategies.

  • A good understanding of additional learning and developmental needs.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A calm and flexible approach to supporting behaviour and engagement.

  • The ability to encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance.

  • Confidence working with teachers and other professionals.

  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and pupil wellbeing.

Experience in a secondary school, special school or specialist SEND provision would be beneficial. Backgrounds supporting autism, complex needs, learning difficulties or social, emotional and mental health needs are particularly relevant.

  • Opportunities to develop your specialist education experience.
