What you'll be doing:

  • Define and implement a robust data governance framework covering data protection, records management, and lifecycle management.
  • Establish clear data ownership, accountability, and governance structures across the organisation.
  • Develop and maintain policies, standards, and procedures aligned to regulatory and business needs.
  • Lead data protection operations including ROPA, DPIA/DTIA governance, and privacy risk management.
  • Act as the key operational interface with the external Data Protection Officer (DPO).
  • Embed data retention, deletion, and anonymisation practices across systems and processes.
  • Provide data governance leadership to business change, integration, and transformation initiatives.
  • Oversee data risk across third-party and outsourced providers, ensuring compliance and transparency.
  • Identify, assess, and manage data-related risks, supporting audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver clear reporting and assurance to senior stakeholders on governance and data protection matters.
  • Lead and develop data governance capability across the organisation, including line management of a Data Officer.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong data practices.

What skills and experience you'll bring on this journey:

  • Strong experience designing and operating data governance frameworks within a regulated environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of GDPR/UK GDPR and its practical application in business operations.
  • Hands-on experience with ROPA, DPIAs/DTIAs, data sharing, and privacy risk management.

  • Experience working with Data Protection Officers and regulatory stakeholders.
