The Senior Solicitor/Senior Legal Advisor (Global and Commercial) provides professional legal advice on commercial, corporate, education, international, intellectual property, and/or technology matters involving the Coventry University Group. This includes advising on complex academic and commercial projects relating to the Group's Global strategy and developing and delivering strategies to support the Group's plan to increase the nature and extent of its activities while minimising legal and financial risk to the Group.
The Senior Solicitor/Senior Legal Advisor will review, negotiate, and draft agreements with suppliers, purchasers, large corporate entities, government and funding bodies, and other higher education institutions. They will review, update, and develop precedents and templates to ensure that the Group's commercial, corporate, education, international, intellectual property, infrastructure, research and technology activities comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and sector best practice.
Responsibilities:- Review, negotiate and draft commercial, corporate, education, international, intellectual property and technology agreements with suppliers, purchasers, large corporate entities, government and funding bodies, and other higher education institutions.
- Develop and maintain precedents and templates to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and sector best practice.
- Provide professional legal advice in relation to commercial and related matters to support the Group's Global strategy and activities while minimising legal and financial risk.
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales, or equivalent.
- Experience in a commercial legal environment with drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial contracts.
- Expert knowledge of commercial, contract, company, intellectual property, and data protection law; ability to advise on and negotiate contract terms.
