The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 ÂŁ per year.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Control, this role will oversee and manage the core financial cycle of the business. The main focus of the role will be on transformational change and continuous improvement in processes, systems and controls, to support the delivery of the group financial records, plans and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full financial cycle to meet Group planning, management, and reporting needs.
- Oversee year‑end close and support production of annual financial statements and audit.
- Manage delivery of management accounts and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and insightful commentary.
- Develop innovative financial models, tools, and systems to enhance Finance operations.
- Lead a team to produce timely, high‑quality financial reports and management information.
- Maintain and control the Group’s chart of accounts and coding structures for data integrity.
- Strengthen financial controls and streamline processes to improve efficiency and quality.
- Oversee inter‑company processes, controls, and consolidation for effective Group reporting.
- Manage central posting of inter‑company funding, income, and overhead redistributions.
- Drive improvements in reporting through enhanced finance system data capabilities.
- Promote Finance visibility via well‑maintained website and intranet content.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
- Experience in accounting with a good working knowledge of management and financial accounting.
- Experience in cost management and capital development, with project accounting experience in relation to funded, non‑funded and commercial projects.
- Prior accounting experience in the higher education sector is advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder management skills at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Experience delivering business information provision at a senior management level.
- Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision, prioritise and make clear decisions.
