This is a senior role within our Business Growth and Employer Engagement function, offering the opportunity to shape how the college works with employers to deliver workforce development, commercial training and industry insight. As Head of Commercial Partnerships and Employer Insight, you will lead the college's strategic approach to employer engagement, building strong partnerships with local, regional and national employers. Working closely with Directors of Curriculum and the Vice Principal Business Growth, you will identify emerging skills needs, develop new commercial opportunities and ensure employer insight informs curriculum development and future skills planning. You will also lead the development of a structured sales pipeline and CRM‑driven approach to employer engagement, ensuring opportunities are effectively identified, tracked and delivered.
We are looking for an ambitious and strategic professional with experience in business development, employer engagement or commercial partnerships, ideally within the education, skills or training sector.
Key Responsibilities- Proven experience developing strategic partnerships with employers or industry
- Strong commercial awareness and experience building sales pipelines and income streams
- Experience working with labour market intelligence and employer insight
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders and work effectively across organisations
- Experience leading teams and delivering results in a target‑driven environment
- Possession of a recognised degree or equivalent professional/vocational qualification
- Level 2 qualification in Communication/Literacy/English/Numeracy/Maths
- Experience of working in and leading a team in a sales and target driven environment
- Experience of apprenticeship sales both with large and small employers is essential
- Experience of working in the FE sector and current knowledge of funding regimes
- Experience of preparing reports
- Strong knowledge of the skills landscape and understanding of the wider social‑economic context of the need to bring employers and learners together
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences in a variety of settings and situations
