The Employment & Skills Service is part of Coventry City Council. We work with a range of delivery partners to provide a wide portfolio of support to Coventry residents of all ages who are looking for work. We collaborate with partners across the city, and our Employer Hub actively works with local employers to generate opportunities for local people.
Our friendly and welcoming Job Shop is situated in Coventry City Centre. We support all Coventry residents in searching for employment, training, apprenticeships, and work placements. People can explore a wide range of local vacancies that are updated daily and access training opportunities.
We also provide specialized support for residents facing complex barriers to employment. Our Job Shop and employment support programs are among the best in the UK.
What is the job role?
This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing service area and make a difference for young disabled people by helping them develop employment skills and progress into meaningful, sustainable employment opportunities.
The service is part of the Job Shop’s Skills, Employment, and Adult Education service. We partner with the Council’s SEND team to offer supported internships, ensuring clients have choice, quality support, and opportunities to progress in life through various employment pathways. We support individuals with learning disabilities, autism/neurodiverse conditions, physical disabilities, and major barriers to employment.
As our Disability Employment Coach, supported by program managers, you will lead a cohort of learners in Supported Internships, ensuring successful partnerships between the service, employers, and learners. You will be the on-site employer lead, supporting Job Coaches to ensure smooth transitions for young people leaving our programs. You will also ensure employers receive outstanding support and address issues promptly.
You will work closely with service managers, employer partners, schools, colleges, and other stakeholders to develop opportunities tailored to our clients\’ needs.
You will play a key role in providing high-quality, person-centered support in line with the Supported Employment Model.
All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.
This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment is conditional upon a satisfactory police records check via DBS.

This program runs during term time; a commitment to service delivery is expected. Leave during term time will be considered on an individual basis to ensure service continuity. We are open to job share arrangements if working hours meet service needs.
