This Grade 8 Senior practitioner post is commencing in a team that does not require the post holder to case hold; however, please note that the senior practitioner post does case hold in other social work teams across Children and Education Services. Please note only case holding Social Workers in a Grade 8 Senior Practitioner or Grade 8 Advanced Social Worker post in employment continuously from 1st April 2026 until 31st March 2027 are eligible for the current Grade 8 Social Worker retention payment.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role. You will be a qualified and experienced Social Worker who has:

  • A current registration with Social Work England.
  • A sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • A proven ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Knowledge of assessment methods, care management and casework methods.
  • Experience of carrying out a range of statutory work in childcare/child protection.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with children and young people and families.
