As we continue to grow and evolve, we are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting the Club’s financial operations and reporting excellence. The Role
Reporting into the senior finance leadership team, the Management Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and supporting key regulatory and compliance requirements across the Club. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity of financial information while helping drive continuous improvement across reporting processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts in accordance with internal deadlines.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and cash flow forecasts to support the Club’s financial planning.
- Assist with analysis of financial information and expenditure to help track performance against departmental budgets.
- Assist with preparation of football regulatory and league financial reporting.
- Compliance & Audit
- Responsibility for the timely completion and submission of all National Statistic returns.
- Assist with external audit deliverables.
- Prepare VAT return data.
- Operational Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Finance department to improve efficiency and workflows.
- Handle sensitive and confidential financial information with the highest level of discretion.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the quality of financial reporting and IT literacy within the team.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Essential: Proven experience in producing monthly management accounts.
- Essential: Technical knowledge of financial reporting standards, such as IFRS or UK GAAP.
- Desirable: Experience working within an increasingly complex regulatory environment, such as professional sport.
Technical & General Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly and accurately.
