An exciting position is available as Coventry City Football Club is looking to recruit a Deputy Head of Grounds to work within the department. This is an excellent opportunity to lead the day-to-day running of the CBS Arena pitch.
Reporting to the Head of Grounds, the successful candidate will work in a team of 3 staff and ideally have a minimum of 3/4 years’ experience working in grounds maintenance. Experience of working in a professional football club or a similar sports facility is preferred.
Responsibilities of the Role
Liaising with the Head of Grounds (CBS Arena) and the rest of the team daily
Deputising in the absence of Head of Grounds (CBS Arena)
Lead 2 other members of staff
The preparation and maintenance to a high standard of the Hybrid pitch surfaces including as appropriate:
Grass cutting
Marking Out
Re-seeding
Spraying of Chemical
Fertiliser Application
Verti-cutting
Brushing
Control of the irrigation system
General maintenance of workshop and machinery, ensuring that all tools and equipment are stored safely and securely when not in use and are maintained in good working order.
Compliance with statutory record keeping and internal procedures relating to pitch preparation and maintenance.
Horticultural work is required around the surrounding car parks.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the industry
Person Specification
Essential
NVQ Level 2 Horticulture/Sports Turf or equivalent qualification
Stadium environment experience
PA Spraying experience
Good communication skills and a good ability to carry out instructions.
The ability to work as part of a team but also on your own with good initiative.
Ability to work independently and be self-driven within a team structure.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Be self-motivated with a positive attitude.
The ability to multitask and prioritise appropriately.
Candidates are required to hold a full Driving Licence.
Desirable
NVQ Level 3 Sports Turf or equivalent qualification
Supervisory experience
PA1/PA2/PA6A Spraying qualification or equivalent is desirable.
Experience in working within Football on championship/premiership pitches is desirable

Ensure awareness and knowledge of best practices and participate in training activities as required by your manager.
