What is the job role?
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to work one to one with a lovely child who has physical disabilities. This is a fixed term role (initially for one year) starting in September 2025 and working term time only. The successful candidate will be a member of a strong team of teachers and support staff and will provide bespoke support to access learning for a pupil with physical disabilities. You will work collaboratively with school staff and in partnership with the appropriate professionals to plan effectively and monitor the child's progress, including contributing to personal learning plans and educational health care plans (EHCP).

Who are we looking for?
You will be a passionate and enthusiastic teaching assistant who is committed to improving educational and social inclusion opportunities and outcomes for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. Candidates should have:

  • A commitment to make a difference to children's lives through education.
  • NVQ3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience and knowledge of safeguarding
  • A good understanding of the primary curriculum
  • A willingness to attend to the pupil's personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, medication, first aid and welfare matters as appropriate.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups of children, teachers, parents and other members of staff
  • A sympathetic approach to parents and an understanding of the need for confidentiality
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers and other members of staff
  • The ability to accept guidance and direction from teachers
  • The ability to use own initiative
  • A commitment to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school
  • Previous experience of working with children with SEND would be advantageous but not essential.
  • A dedication to actively contribute to school life and the wider community.
  • A sense of humour, positive outlook and a kind heart.
  • A commitment to your own professional learning which is supported by a dedicated leadership team.
