About the Role

Senior Library Assistant at Willenhall Library, supervising front‑line library service. The role involves day‑to‑day responsibility alongside other supervisors for the library building and managing library staff under the direction and supervision of the Library Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as first point of contact for library visitors.
  • Help visitors use IT and answer questions on a wide variety of subjects.
  • Lead events and activities, such as rhyme times.
  • Move books around the library.
  • Create and promote book displays.
  • Deal with complaints and incidents in the library.
  • Manage staff and support health and safety.

Working Hours

Part‑time, 18.5 hours per week. Mondays 9.45am‑1.45pm, Tuesdays 9.45am‑3.00pm, Thursdays 9.45am‑7.00pm (includes paid lunch break). Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are non‑working days.

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience managing, training and motivating teams.
  • IT literacy and ability to promote library services.
  • Awareness of health and safety responsibilities.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom. Sponsorship not offered.
