Job Role
- Overnight Carer: Supporting children with disabilities, complex health needs and potential trauma-related behaviours, developing a sleep routine within a safe, secure and nurturing environment, attending to personal care needs as required, and contributing to individual care planning while maintaining accurate records.
- Relationship Builder: Providing ongoing support through positive relationships, promoting the development of meaningful interaction guided by the values of child-centred care, respect, dignity, good parenting, independence, fulfilment and partnership, and recognising and implementing different communication methods to meet children’s needs.
- Educator: Sharing information with children in an accessible way, empowering them to make informed choices about their care and future.
Qualifications & Experience
- Have a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by children who are looked after or on short break, and recognise how relationships influence their experiences when entering or leaving care.
- Can appreciate and respond to each child’s unique needs, delivering support across the three key skill areas in a holistic, child-centred manner.
- Possess desirable skills such as a driving licence and strong computer literacy to document and evidence the work effectively.
- Are committed to ongoing professional development and eager to take advantage of bespoke training, including support to achieve a Diploma for Residential Childcare if not already obtained.
Working Patterns & Posts
- Part-time 22 hours per week Waking Night carer positions on a fixed 9-week rota that includes weekends and bank holidays.
- Intermittent training opportunities may be required outside core hours.
Application Requirements
- Provide full work history since leaving school, identifying any employment gaps to meet the requirements of Schedule 2 of the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015).
- Have Right to Work in the UK with at least 26 months remaining. Role not suitable for visa holders limited to 20 hours per week.
