Coventry Music is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and passionate music educator to grow opportunities for children and young people across the city in our rapidly expanding Alternative Provision programmes. The successful candidate will deliver music provision in a variety of settings, including the Coventry Alternative Provision Programme, the AP Academy, partnership programmes with organisations such as St Giles Trust, and individual student sessions outside mainstream education. They will support the Heart of England Music Hub strategy, focusing on inclusion and access for all.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver music provision for approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Lead group rehearsals outside school hours and collaborate with regional groups across the hub area.
  • Develop programmes and opportunities outside of teaching time, with one working day per week allocated for this.
  • Generate relationships with schools and stakeholders to expand delivery of music education across the city.
  • Co‑ordinate projects and events both inside and outside the school day, including evenings and weekends throughout the year.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experienced in music education with a high level of specialism in one area and knowledge of a music education hub.
  • High quality instrumental skills and capable of delivering in diverse settings.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate sessions in their musical expertise.
  • Confident in teaching and building relationships to support young people in using music as a tool for wider growth and personal development.
  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends across the whole year.

Conditions and Working Arrangement

  • Full‑time member of the team with expectation to deliver 20 hours per week (also available part‑time, term‑time only + 3 weeks, and full‑time options).
  • Post funded until Summer 2027, reviewed alongside the Music Hub Investment Process for potential continuation into Autumn 2027 and beyond.
  • Exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; appointment requires satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. Sponsorship not offered.
