The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents aged 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.

We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities. We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness, and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people. Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in Nursery Workers, Teaching Assistants, Leadership/Management, and Customer Care. We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council's Job Shop.

Make a real difference teaching and empowering future care workers. We are looking for a passionate and experienced adult educator to join our dynamic team and help shape the next generation of care workers. If you thrive on inspiring others, delivering high-quality learning, and supporting diverse communities, this is the role for you. You will be involved in different programmes (apprenticeships, vocational and tailored learning), designing, planning, delivering, and reporting. Delivery will take place online and face-to-face in a variety of settings, supporting both existing and new partnerships. You will join a supportive team of experienced tutors committed to excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment, with opportunities for professional development and CPD.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality apprenticeships and accredited and non-accredited programmes.
  • Provide inclusive, culturally competent learning experiences that raise aspirations for diverse communities.
  • Set individual targets, monitor progress, and evaluate learner achievement.
  • Promote Adult Education provision through various channels, including social media.
Essential Requirements
  • English and Maths at Level 2.
  • Teaching qualification at Level 3 (minimum).
  • Subject-specific qualification at Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of curriculum practice and experience in apprenticeship or adult education delivery.
  • Strong understanding of equity, inclusion, safeguarding, and Prevent.
  • Ability to teach across multiple venues and formats throughout the year.
