The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents aged 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need. We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities. We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness, and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people. Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas: Nursery Workers, Teaching Assistants, Leadership/Management, and Customer Care. We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council's Job Shop. Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need. Job Role: Full-time, Permanent ILEEP Post. The role is to support the delivery of provision for Adults with Learning Disabilities/Difficulties (LDD) across Coventry as part of the Skills, Employment & Adult Education Service.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside ILEEP tutors and the Delivery Manager to deliver engaging sessions for Adults with Learning Disabilities/Difficulties.
  • Support programmes that develop key life skills, improve health and well-being, and enable learners to participate in community life, leading to social integration, volunteering opportunities, and paid employment.
  • Assist with planning sessions, preparing resources, and supporting learners during activities.
  • Deliver a range of provision, including Independent Living programmes, Confidence-building sessions, Personal development, Employability and volunteering guidance.
  • Work in community venues and in partnership with local organisations; support learners when off-site.
  • Support both one-off workshops and longer programmes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Passionate, adaptable and committed team player with experience in educational or community settings.
  • Strong understanding of barriers adults may face in education and a genuine commitment to supporting learners to overcome challenges.
  • Experience working with LDD learners or willingness to develop understanding of the LDD curriculum.
  • Confidence in facilitating learning sessions, preparing appropriate resources, and supporting individual learner needs to enable progress.
  • Experience in handling data and creating proformas.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and safeguarding in all aspects of work.
  • Relevant subject qualifications, along with Level 2 English and maths, essential.
  • All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.
