About The Team We Are Recruiting To

The Information Governance Team plays a key role in the Council’s corporate governance arrangements, helping the Council to protect the personal data that the organisation holds and making sure it meets its legal obligations. The busy team supports the Council in meeting the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and other legislation, protecting personal data and ensuring that information rights are upheld. The team works closely together providing support, advice and guidance to the Council through working with services across the organisation and in partner organisations.

What is the job role?

This role works within the Information Governance Team and is responsible for handling police requests to the Council for social care information. You will manage requests and review and redact information before disclosing to Police Officers and then liaising with Crown Prosecution Service if or when the matter goes to court. The role also deals with queries from officers and provides updated records for historical requests.

Some requests can be urgent and need to be responded to within very short timescales and the information you provide may support the Police to complete investigations and the Crown Prosecution Service to prosecute and prepare cases for court.

Who are we looking for?

You will have experience and a good understanding of data protection and information law and be able to work to a high level of confidentiality and information security. You will have the ability to redact complex and extremely sensitive information quickly and accurately using appropriate software tools. You will be confident in dealing with officers in the Council and Police, organising your own workload to meet agreed timescales. You will be able to give clear advice and communicate effectively with colleagues and partners.

This role is for 14 months to cover maternity leave.
