We are a dynamic Financial Management & Insurance Services Team responsible for providing a diverse range of functions to drive the Council to fulfil its transformational journey. We deliver the full range of risk management and insurance services to facilitate effective delivery of services to support the people of Coventry and deliver projects which are redefining the infrastructure of the city.

What is the job role?
Are you passionate about protecting public services? Coventry is an ambitious City, and we are looking for an Operational Manager with the drive to lead our Insurance Section.
The individual will be responsible for the following key areas:
- Insurance
- Ensuring that the Council\βs portfolio of insurances meets its needs.
- Providing insurance advice to colleagues throughout the Council, including to Legal and Procurement colleagues.
- Claims
- Being the lead on the Council\βs response to all types of insurance claims.
- Managing a small team of claims handlers.
- Working with finance colleagues and external advisors to ensure that the Council holds the correct levels of provisions and reserves for claims.
- Risk Management
- Facilitating regular reviews of the Council\βs Corporate Risk Register, which includes writing reports for and presenting them to the Council\βs Leadership Board and the Audit and Procurement Committee.
- Providing support to service areas as they monitor and review their risk registers.
- Providing operational risk management advice to managers.

Who are we looking for?
- A qualified insurance professional (Chartered Insurance Institute)
- Able to work strategically with various stakeholders, building constructive working relationships both internally and externally with Councillors, Directors, Service Managers, Barristers, Solicitors, Loss Adjusters, and external claims handlers.
- An enthusiastic individual who can lead insurance and risk within an operationally diverse organisation.
- Has experience of working for or with local authorities
