About The Team We Are Recruiting To The Community Safety Team at Coventry City Council plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. They work to address a wide range of issues, from crime prevention and anti-social behaviour to community cohesion. By collaborating with local partners, organisations, and residents, the team implements strategic initiatives that foster a sense of security and trust within the community. Coventry City Council is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to take on the role of Head of Community Safety. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in promoting community safety, engagement, and the development and delivery of local crime and disorder strategies across Coventry, helping to create a cohesive and resilient community. You will be at the forefront of initiatives to address Anti-Social Behaviour, vulnerability to exploitation, and low-level criminality in our communities. You will work closely with our partners, including the police, building strong relationships that support community resilience and promote safety across the city. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement strategies to promote community safety and enhance engagement and empowerment across Coventry. Address Anti-Social Behaviour, vulnerability to exploitation, and low-level criminality through targeted interventions and collaborative working with partner organisations. Champion the principles of community resilience, ensuring communities are equipped and supported to address their unique challenges. Lead efforts to prevent individuals from being drawn into terrorism, ensuring compliance with the Prevent duty. Work closely with multi-agency partners, including police, social services, education providers, and voluntary organisations, to deliver effective community safety outcomes. Monitor and evaluate the impact of community safety initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and value for money. Provide leadership to the Community Safety team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Who are we looking for? We are looking for a highly motivated individual with: Proven leadership experience in the field of Community Safety, public service, or related areas. Strong knowledge of issues surrounding Anti-Social Behaviour, exploitation, and criminality, and experience in developing strategies to address them. Excellent understanding of community resilience principles and a commitment to fostering stronger, self-reliant communities. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, building positive relationships and achieving shared goals. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities. A track record of delivering successful community engagement and empowerment initiatives. Resilience, adaptability, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of others.
