We’re recruiting to our Development Management team, which supports the growth of the city and manages development from inception to delivery. Alongside Development Management is the Planning Policy and Environment team, which encompasses a number of individual but related specialisms all focussed on delivering a city for those wishing to live and work here. Those specialisms include Strategic Planning, Ecology, Trees and Landscape, Urban Design, Conservation, Archaeology and Environmental Protection. This Senior Town Planner role contributes to a high-quality, customer-focused planning service by managing a wide range of planning applications, providing professional advice, representing the Council in committees and appeals, and supporting sustainable growth across the city. The role involves giving pre-application guidance, contributing to policy and process improvements, handling planning enforcement matters, and working collaboratively with internal teams, elected members, residents, and external stakeholders to ensure effective, compliant and timely planning outcomes.

This role includes a £3,000 market supplement, reviewed annually.

We are looking for an experienced Town Planner who clearly demonstrates that they meet the criteria for the Senior Town Planner post. Applicants should clearly demonstrate this in their submission, having specific regard to the criteria set out in the Job Description. A full UK driving licence is required for this post to carry out site visits around the city. All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.
