The Coventry Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Support Service delivers tailored support for early years children with significant special educational needs, from birth to 5 years, both in the home and early years settings. The service collaborates closely with schools, partners in the NHS, third sector organisations and families. Job Role

  • Provide rapid response to schools and settings for early years children with significant SEND.
  • Work in partnership with staff to coach, model and implement inclusive strategies, aiming to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Respond swiftly to requests for support from schools and early years settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to develop and deliver targeted interventions.
  • Deliver coaching and modelling to build inclusive practice across settings.
  • Engage with families, professionals and colleagues to co‑create effective support plans.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the EYFS framework, SEN Code of Practice and related legislation.
  • Provide reflective practice and feedback to promote continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience of Early Years practice in schools or early years settings.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with children who have social, emotional or behavioural needs.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and initiative skills.
  • Creative, dynamic and capable of building strong partnerships with professionals, families and colleagues.
  • Proactive, positive approach to challenging situations.
