In line with our One Coventry Values, we want to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equity and respect remains at the heart of everything we do.
Our Values are:
- Open and fair: We are fair, open, and transparent.
- Nurture and develop: We help and encourage everyone to be their best and do their best.
- Engage and empower: We talk and listen to others, working together as one.
- Create and innovate: We embrace new ways of working to continuously improve.
- Own and be accountable: We work together to deliver the best services for our residents.
- Value and respect: We put diversity and inclusion at the heart of all we do.
Each day, rain or shine, thousands of children in Coventry cross the road with a School Crossing Patrol on their journeys to and from school. Patrols operate at many locations in the city, and they are sited to ensure that the children and their parents are able to travel to school more safely .
We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.
What is the job role?
This currently vacant job role is located on Ringwood Highway, outside of Potters Green School, and the site is operated before and after school. You will be needed to work for 7 hours and 05 minutes each week, working shifts from 8.25 am to 9.05 am and then again from 2.55 pm to 3.40 pm (times to be confirmed). You will be working alone, but with line management support if it is required.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a confident, motivated and reliable individual who is trusted to work alone and carry out their job as it should be done every day that they are required to be on site. We need someone who is able to work outside in all weathers (for fairly short shifts) as the service operates every school day, whether it’s sunny and hot or raining and windy! Uniform is provided. This is a very rewarding job and Patrols we currently employ say that they get a lot of job satisfaction.
