About The Team We Are Recruiting To

The Education Improvement and Standards team strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominantly the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported, have a voice, and hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.

The service is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues related to educating our most vulnerable pupils in schools.

  • Pupil attendance enforcement
  • Children Missing Education
  • 6th day provision for permanently excluded pupils
  • The administration of the Fair Access and Supported Transfer process
  • Child licensing and employment

What is the job role?

An opportunity has arisen for a Fixed Term Temporary Pupil Inclusion Officer post within the Education Inclusion & Attendance Team. The role is for 32.5 hours per week for a period of 9 months. Please note that the salary advertised has been adjusted to reflect the hours worked. Internal candidates may wish to consider this role as a secondment opportunity with prior agreement with their line manager.

Reporting to the Senior Attendance Officer you’ll support the local authority to fulfil its statutory duties and responsibilities for school attendance, inclusion, exclusion, and in‑year fair access arrangements and securing safeguarding requirements.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role. This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

To be successful, you’ll need to be someone with a high degree of accuracy, committed to customer care and someone with excellent numeracy, literacy and keyboard skills. You’ll also have had experience of advising parents and schools on policy, guidance or legislation.
