About The Team We Are Recruiting To

Coventry City Council’s People & Culture Team sits within Human Resources and focuses on people, process and performance to deliver organisational transformation and cultural change through a range of organisational interventions. We’re a high performing team who are leading on a number of key priorities across the organisation including: Employee Engagement, Values & Culture, Diversity & Inclusion, Talent Development, Corporate Learning & Development and Apprenticeships & Early Careers.

The Apprenticeships & Early Careers Team is responsible for delivering the Council’s Apprenticeship Strategy which includes:

  • Increasing the number and quality of apprenticeship opportunities within the Council
  • Widening participation by targeting and engaging with priority and under-represented groups
  • Embedding apprenticeships across the organisation and developing career pathways
  • Effectively utilising the Apprenticeship Levy to upskill our current workforce

The Job Role

As an ER Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our People Services function. Your responsibilities will include coordinating meetings, handling HR-related queries, maintaining and updating employee information on our systems, preparing documentation and reports, and ensuring all tasks are carried out in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements. This role provides essential experience across multiple areas of HR while you work towards the Level 3 HR apprenticeship standard. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 21 months. You will undertake Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship standard.

We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual who is eager to develop a career in HR. You will demonstrate strong organisational skills, accuracy, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain confidentiality, work collaboratively within a team, and manage priorities effectively. You should also be confident using Microsoft Office applications and willing to learn and apply new HR processes as part of your Level 3 HR apprenticeship.
